blog 6: poem.

I’m holding on your rope
Got me ten feet off the ground
And I’m hearing what you say
But I just can’t make you sound
You tell me that you need me
Then you go and cut me down
But wait...
You tell me that you’re sorry
Didn’t think I’d turn around and say..
That it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I’d take another chance, take a fall, take a shot for you
And I need you like a heart needs a beat
(But that's nothing new)
Yeah yeah
I loved you with a fire red, now it’s turning blue
And you say
Sorry like the angel heaven let me think was you
But I’m afraid
It’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
Woahooo woah
It’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize, it’s too late
I said it’s too late to apologize, yeah yeah
I said it’s too late to apologize, a yeah
I’m holding on your rope
Got me ten feet off the ground

the song(poem) that i chose is the song apologize by one republic. I like this song very much. It is something different compared to the hip hop and rap i usually listen to. The song is a sad song but it has a good meaning to it. It sings about how people are there for you and then they arnt there for you and they want it to be okay and apologize but its too late because you have moved on. it also shows how people do things that they regret and then they expect for you to still be there with them when they hurt you.

this song connects to my life in many ways. in life you should not trust everyone you meet. i have learned that. in the song they are talking about a relationship but it is true with life in general. i have trusted people with secrets and feelings and then they do something they regret and when you give your personal feelings and secrets to someone and they break a promise it is pretty dificult to become friends with them again and feel the same way around them. it is also true with relationships. when you like someone you need to find out how they are like and you need to form trust with them before you put your hear into it and get hurt. i have learned that. i have trusted people too easily and got hurt for it.

poetry is defined so many ways. my definiton of poetry is something real and something that comes from your heart. it either explains something you are feeling or something important. it doesnt have to rythm. poetry is like the your bodys way of talking.

He’s a warm-hearted person who’ll love me to the end
People let me tell you ‘bout my best friend
He’s a one boy cuddly toy my up my down my pride and joy
People let me tell you now he’s so much fun
Whether we’re talking man to man
Or whether we’re talking son to son
Cause he’s my best friend now

Moral dilemma in Huck Finn

In the book “The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn” there are many moral dilemmas that Huck Finn goes through. The one dilemma that is the biggest dilemma he went through is running away from home, and faking his own death.
Faking your own death and running away is a huge dilemma for anyone to go through. There are good things about him leaving and bad. The good things are Huck won’t be abused by his father anymore, he won’t have to stay home alone locked in a house for days on end while his dad is out, and he can do what he wants when he wants to do it. The bad things about Huck leaving is he will get in big trouble if his dad finds him, its unsafe for a kid his age to be out and alone in the world, and he will have to find his own food and shelter that was once provided for him.
Huck made a good decision with running away from home and faking his own death. Huck is very smart and he is able to handle being out in the world alone. The way that Huck was treated when he lived with his dad was terrible. He would do better living on his own.
There are a few good reasons why Huck made a good decision by running away. Huck was treated terribly while at his dad’s house. His dad would leave him locked in there house for days. His dad also just wanted Huck for his money. Huck does very intelligent things that many people could not even think of doing. He is capable of living on his own.
Huck had a big moral dilemma to face. He made a good decision by running away and faking his own death. He deserved to be treated better and by running away he is.

huck finn reader response #3

1.)The whole house impressed Huck. Even though the house was not perfect he was amazed. The art work and the paintings and the pictures made him so interested. It shows that he appreciates the little things and that success and happiness is not based on money it is based on the people and the home that you have.

2.)The books in the house have something special about them. Huck is interested in these books because he is fond of interesting and intelligent things. He also likes the books because they have drawings and poems in them. Huck and mark twain have fairly the same view of education. They are both interested and intelligent.

3.)the poems and drawings are unique. They are made by a girl whop was obsessed with death. The drawing with the three arms represents that she was going to choose which arms she liked. He makes fun of death. Huck was so interested in the girls art because it was so unigue and interesting.

reader response two:huck finn 7-13

1. There are many people that influence huck. Tom sawyer influences huck with bad things. “tom whispered to me and wanted to tie Jim to a tree for fun but I said no” (page 4, paragraph 4) tom tells huck to do bad things that would get him in trouble.
2. Miss Watson. Influences huck in a good way. “Don’t scrunch up like that huckleberry sit up straight”. (Page 2 paragraph 3) she tells huck to not scrunch up to help him have good posture. She would like for huck to grow up as a good man.
3. Pap is a bad influence on huck. He let huck do what he would like to do and that was bad things. Pap only liked huck for his money and he really didn’t love huck. He would also leave huck and not come back for hours. “he would sleep and get strong and then see who was who”. (page22 paragraph 3)
4. jim was a good influence on huck. He was very intelligent and never put huck down or let him do bad things. They became friends. “he said it would fetch bad luck”. (page 39 paragraph 3) he trys to help huck and influence him in a good way.

huck finn reader response 1-6

Huck Finn reader response 1: (1-6)

Racism

Paragraph 1:
The quote in the book that deals with my theme is: “I says to people, why aint this n-word put up at auction and sold. (Chapter 6, page20, end of last paragraph.) The quote in my own words is: I say to people why isn’t this African American sold as a slave. (Like they used to be.)

Paragraph 2:
I think that the quote is disrespectful. I think that it was very mean for hucks father to say that but back when the book was written slavery was anew and wasn’t illegal and as offending as it is today. This quote relates to my life because I am living in a community with people of different race and culture but I don’t believe that just because they are of a different culture they should be sold off for slavery. Its just rude.

Paragraph 3:
I think that mark twain thought that the quote was not a big deal. He was just a satire. Racism is a important topic and he tried to make it funny. Now he would probably think it was a stupid thing to write. He probably lived with people of different color and race like I did.

october 3rd journal

i think that in todays society african americans and white americans talk differently. people do talk differently but it is not because of their race, sex, or religion. people talk differently because of their surroundings and the neighborhood they grew up in. lets say one african american person lives in georgia and one lives in california they can talk differently and it is not because of their race.
